$39.14 –  $51.75  hourly

$81,411.20 – $107,640.00  annually

About the position:

This is a full-time union position. Health and retirement programs are through the IBEW Local 1245. This position repairs and maintains light and heavy-duty diesel and gasoline vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery. The work is performed in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications, company standards, and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operates and inspects machines, vehicles, and heavy equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools. Adjusts and repairs ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and steering systems.
  • Maintains and repairs chassis, frames, and bodies.
  • Repairs and maintains diesel and gasoline engines.
  • Maintains and repairs, batteries, brakes, and valves.
  • Assists with inspections and safety checks.
  • Works with hoisting and jacking equipment, power tools, measuring instruments, gauges, and meters.
  • May occasionally travel to field locations to provide repairs or maintenance.
  • Prepares detailed maintenance and repair records in our computer system.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally 5+ years and/or combined with vocational training on diesel equipment and mechanical repair of construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand procedural instruction, manuals, hydraulic and electrical diagrams. Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in shop and field environments.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.

Special requirements:

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. Must obtain a Class A California Driver’s License within six months of employment.
